Carolina Horizons is a “crash course “that prepares students for the college application process. Students learn about Carolina and establish personal relationships with college admission representatives, across the UNC System. This program seeks to increase access to higher education and is designed to limit the financial burden of students who desire to participate in our program. Your first stop for all you need to know about your college journey.
Students interested in attending a college or university should apply. Rising Juniors and Seniors have 1st choice. 25 students will be accepted. A Carolina Horizons application is required if selected to attend as well as a required student/parent meeting.

25 students will be sponsored by The Lumbee Tribe Project CREATE. They will spend 5 days, 4 nights on the campus of Campbell University. The North Carolina Native American Youth Organization (NCNAYO) was established in 1979 to support all American Indian youth in the state of North Carolina. NCNAYO provides various opportunities to support NC American Indian youth through an annual leadership conference in June, a youth executive committee and other leadership opportunities. American Indian youth not only have the opportunity to network across the state; they also are afforded the opportunity to collaborate with the NC Commission of Indian Affairs as well as the United Tribes of North Carolina.

Through visits to federal agencies, leading technology companies, and historic landmarks, students will explore how science, engineering, and technology shape our country—and how they can shape the future.
The program blends hands‑on learning, career exploration, and cultural experiences to create a memorable and motivating week.
Limited to 25 students highly motivated in STEM careers.

Camp STEMtastic – Open Up Your STEM Imagination (Rising 3rd – 4th Grades)
Discover the fun of science and math! Camp STEMtastic allows students to spend time in a real science laboratory while engaging in projects and activities exploring the following areas.
• Explore matter and simple chemical reactions through experiments such as a root beer float, bottle rocket activity, volcano eruption, and a Mentos soda activity.
• Students will build a catapult to show how stored energy can launch objects into the air by making a marshmallow catapult.
• Introduce students to density and chemical reactions by layering oil and water, and experimenting with Alka-Seltzers.

Game Design and Engineering Camp (Rising 6th–8th Grades)
The STEM camp introduces students to the exciting worlds of computer programming, game design, and engineering through LEGO building challenges. Campers will develop coding skills while exploring how engineering concepts such as motion, force, energy, and problem-solving apply to both video games and real-world structures. Students will design digital games, build physical creations using LEGO, and test how their designs respond to forces, motion, and collisions. Through teamwork and creative challenges, campers will strengthen their logic, creativity, and critical thinking skills while gaining exposure to careers in technology, engineering, and game development. The camp will focus on the added key concepts:
• Coding logic
• Engineering design
• Learning Physics concepts (force, motion, energy)
• Developing their skills in creativity and teamwork
• Participating in problem-solving through group work

Little Guardians of the Land: Nature & Wildlife Camp (Pre-K – 4 days only)
This camp introduces our youngest learners to the wonders of nature through play, discovery, and direct exploration. Campers will learn about animals, plants, and the environment in our local Robeson County community while developing curiosity about the world around them. Through stories, crafts, movement activities, and simple science projects, children will discover how to care for the land, animals, and water that make our community special. Campers will build curiosity and creativity, and an early appreciation of the natural world while having fun in a safe, engaging environment.
• Learning about animals that live in North Carolina, such as birds, turtles, frogs, and deer.
• Nature-themed story time and songs about animals and the outdoors.
• Exploring plants, leaves, and flowers through simple crafts and art activities.
• Participating in sensory activities by using water, soil, and sand to introduce young learners to nature.
• Pretending play activities to encourage children to use their imagination and “move like animals.”
• Understanding lessons about nature and keeping our environment clean, and why we should not litter.

Students will explore the science of land, water, and environment that shape life in Robeson County. Through STEM activities and firsthand exploration, campers will learn how communities protect natural resources and how science helps us care for the environment. Students will explore how science helps us understand, protect, and sustain our community's land and water. Through direct STEM activities, students will investigate the ecosystems of the Lumber River region, learn about plant life and agriculture important to our area, and discover how small actions can protect our environment for future generations. Included are the following activities:
• Exploring local ecosystems such as rivers, wetlands, and forests found in Southeastern NC.
• Studying plant life and agriculture, including crops and plants grown in our community.
• Investigating water quality and biodiversity by viewing water samples and organisms with microscopes.
• Learning how weather and natural disasters, such as hurricanes and floods, affect our region.
• Discussing how Lumbee traditions and respect for the land connect to environmental stewardship and the history of our native culture.
• Participation in cultural activities with local native professionals

Get ready for a great summer! This day camp, for rising 1st and 2nd graders, has something for everyone, including art, music, and various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities. Games and projects will revolve around allowing campers to flex their imagination. Work as a group to problem solve over the week, challenging them to think creatively and brainstorm solutions.
• Learn about the earth’s natural resources and why they are important to us.
• Make their binoculars, build igloos out of simple materials, design and construct their marble runs, and design their balloon-powered car.
• Participate in activities such as turning milk into plastic, and making items such as:
Elephant toothpaste, slime, igloos, ice cream, and design a balloon-powered car.
• Explore the solar system, DNA sequencing, and what causes a volcano.

This week-long camp introduces students to the connection between environmental health, wildlife, and human health. Students will explore how nature influences the human body while gaining firsthand experience in health sciences, wildlife conservation, and environmental careers.
Campers will investigate the body’s major organ systems, learn about diseases and injuries that affect them, and discover how environmental factors - such as wildlife habitats, water quality, and ecosystems- influence human health. Through outdoor exploration, laboratory-style activities, and guest speakers from healthcare and conservation fields, students will see how protecting nature also protects the future of people. Plus, you will learn about opportunities like volunteering, job shadowing, and mentorships. These can help you explore what you may be most interested in, and which future path might best fit you.
Overall, the camp is about exploring careers, trying new things, and discovering what you might want to do next in your educational and career pursuits.

UNCP All-Sports Camp provides a combination of both planned and optional activities to give kids exposure to a variety of sports and recreational activities. The summer camp is designed for children ages 6-12 and it will provide group instruction in a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, indoor hockey, softball, volleyball, kickball, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, and flag football. The camp is staffed by UNCP athletes and experienced counselors - the focus is on teamwork, sportsmanship and fun! This multi-sport camp will provide a safe and fun environment for kids to play sports they already enjoy as well as try new activities.

This multi-sport camp will provide a safe and fun environment for kids to play sports they already enjoy as well as try new activities…all while enjoying the beautiful campus of UNC Pembroke!

Life By the River is a week of fun, creativity, and exploration. The camp is designed to focus on the Lumbee Tribe’s relation to their indigenous waters. Through hands-on learning experiences, each day we will explore how our ancestors used the Lumbee River to live and sustain our culture
UNCP Day Camps Pembroke to Broadway Camp (July 27th - July 31st)

This 5-day camp for 7th-12th graders gives young performers a chance to learn and perform songs, duets and group numbers from popular music theater shows. Each day, student campers will learn basics of reading music, choreographed dance numbers, harmony and vocal technique from an experienced teacher. Camp will run 9-3:30pm and will include games, lunch, daily snack and enjoying the energy of a music theater community!

University Tours to Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC and East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. This will be a two-day, one-night experience! Their visit to Campbell University includes a tour of the School of Engineering, NASA Moon Rover Lab, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and the School of Medicine. While visiting East Carolina University, students will meet and hear from ECU admissions and Financial Aid staff. Participants will tour the Health Sciences campus and enjoy hands-on activities hosted by the Dental School of Medicine and Brody School of Medicine. A special tour of the ECU Queen Anne's Revenge lab and the Virtual Reality lab will also be enjoyed!
